Is it a misconception that some 4 cylinder's will get better highway mileage than a Hybirds? (i.e because of the weight.)

I've read article that go both ways.

Just need to know before I buy.

It is not a matter of what you drive, it is more how you drive it. There was a recent test by Top Gear, season 11 that is about to start airing, that pitted a Prius against a BMW M3 with a 414 hp V8. They put it to 10 lap test around their track, and the Prius was driven as fast as it could be driven around the track, and the M3 just had to pace it. At the end of the test, the Prius got 17.2 mpg, and the M3 got 19.4 mpg.

It is a matter of how you drive the car. There was another test that C&D did, i think, and it showed that a Z06 vette got better mpgs during highway driving than a Prius.
